In Perth it can be hard to find authentic falafel, but Yalla Bala Leederville has made this a little easier! They have a small menu which has been honed to perfection. There are 4 permanent options: 2 Pitas and 2 Plates with the difference being if you choose Chicken Shawarma or Falafel. We tried one of each option to show you.

Falafel Plate🧆

(falafel, hummus🍆, red apple pickled cabbage, amba spiced🫑 pickled veg🥒, chopped salad, spicy kosher pickles, sumac onions, tahini, amba sauce; choice of extra salad 🥗or hot chips) $19

Have you ever seen such a beautiful🌈 coloured falafel? It was earthy, delicious and crispy outside. It was so herbaceous and paired perfectly with the sauces. The veg were all extremely fresh, delicious and crunchy. Overall a very filling, spicy, acidic plate!

Chicken 🍗Shawarma Pita 🥙

(chicken, pita, hummus🍆, zhug, chopped salad🥗, spicy 🌶️kosher pickles, sumac onions, tahini🧈, amba sauce) $17 +$1 hot chips inside🍟

The chicken was juicy and used good quality cuts of meat. The mix of sauces was loverly but harder to differentiate in the pita then in the plate. The pita was soft and fluffy but deconstructed itself unfortunately.

It’s a busy little shop and takes a little while but if you go to the upstairs rooftop bar, you have almost private dining. Music added to the Middle Eastern atmosphere. The often do weekend specials of limited time menu items which always look incredible. Highly recommend trying this spot!

Overall I give @yalla.bala a 8.2/10
