Sizzle N Sambar is located in Vic Park and serves up authentic Indian 🇮🇳flavours specialising in Saapadu feasts, sizzling plates, Dosai and Idli! They have a large variety of Gluten-Free, vegetarian and even Vegan dishes!

Sizzle N Sambar Feast:

Chicken🐔 Korma $23 (GF, harmonious blend of tender 🍗chicken and korma🥘)  hearty and not too spicy, very saucy with a good amount of meat. overall a very generous serve.

Plain Basmati Rice🍚 $5 which seemed quite dry unfortunately

Chicken🍗 Fried Rice $21 (rice🍚 cooked in stir-fried🥕 sauce in wok with choice of meat) was very light meat wise. I did find it a little odd that they serve so many indo/malay dishes but It was decent and a very large portion.

Garlic Naan $6 (chewy flatbread made with leavened flour) Naan was very oily and came out well after everything else. But it was very fluffy with a good charr.

Indian Kimchi $4.5 (spicy mix of onion🧅 and tomato🍅 for extra heat🌶️) This was extremely spicy, and chunky with pops of chilli seeds and rich/acidic tomato. went well in the dosa. Would be nice with the fluffy naan. I did find it to be a little overpowering though.

Masala Dosai $15 (GF, V mashed potato 🥔slowly stirred with red onion🧅, curry leaves and mustard seeds) This was very tasty, earthy with beautiful savoury curry flavours. The Dosa was very thin and crispy and slightly doughier on the inside. The masala spices and curry powder combined aromatically with crispy battery smell in harmony. The potatoes in the dosa were tender and flavourful without being oily. The sauces this came with were great; The sambar (lentil based stew) was my favourite, earthy, hearty and nutty. The white sauce was slightly salty. Chunkier, grainy and a little watery. And finally the orange sauce was a little spicy and tangy, smoother which went well with the dosa.

Sizzle N Sambar by Gowri Narayanan is open Tuesday-Sunday for Lunch and dinner as well as breakfast on the weekend!!!

The Venue:

We were let down a little by the service, found we were really seen to and felt a little judged for our preferences! The water jugs on the tables were cold and had particles floating in them. The cutlery containers on the tables were left empty. All the food did seem carefully made and presented and it was good value for money!

Overall I give @sizzlensambar a 6.5/10
